A name and URL change...

Some housekeeping

Hello!

Sorry to anyone who may have been confused at not finding my Substack at its original URL. I changed it from scarlettphoenix.substack.com to somenuanceplease.substack.com. (Unfortunately, I didn’t notice that there is an option to forward the old address to the new one.)

I recently mentioned on Twitter that I was rebranding myself — hopefully this is the only time — and therefore phasing out my pseudonym Scarlett Phoenix.

Some pseudonym thoughts: In November, it will have been a year since I decided I was going to detransition. It still took me about six months to start talking about it more publicly, but I've continued to be under a pseudonym.

I am using my first name now (Michelle). The surname I chose and will use henceforth (Alleva) is not my legal surname, but it is my great-grandmother’s last name, so there is a family connection.

I am less concerned about my privacy these days and more concerned with authenticity, which is hard to accomplish when you’re anonymous. I am hoping to post pictures in the future — maybe videos — just to show that I am, in fact, a real person.

In the meantime, though, I recently posted audio of my voice changes on testosterone, which is something I recorded as part of my transition starting 11 years ago. It ends with a short clip of what my voice sounds like today (which isn’t very different).
